Ronald L. Hartshorn

Ronald Lee Hartshorn, 76, of East Galesburg, died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Ron was born December 24, 1944 in Dubuque, IA, the son of Henry Sylvester and Rose Marie (Baxter) Hartshorn.  Ron is survived by one daughter, Dawn Waters of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Quentin, Marcus, DaNeil, Tiara, and Jakob; as well as three great grandchildren, Trevon, Alexander, and Marcel.  Ron is also survived by four brothers, Roger Hartshorn of East Galesburg, Bill (Sherry) Hartshorn of Wisconsin Dells, WI, James (Linda) Hartshorn of Galesburg, and Bob Hartshorn of Galesburg; and one sister, Pam (Jeff) Ditgen of Hutchison, KS.  Along with his parents, Ron was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff in 2005 and Ronnie in 1989; and one brother, Dick Hartshorn. Ron worked as a custodian for many years in the Galesburg area.  He had a strong belief in God and enjoyed driving around the country and enjoying it’s beauty.  He was a former member of the Eagle’s Club; he enjoyed playing chess and teaching it to his grandchildren. Memorial visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory.
