Rose Mary Nampel

Rose Mary Nampel, 93, of Henderson, died at 1:17 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Seminary Manor. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home, Galesburg.  The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m.   Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Cemetery, Freeport.  Memorials may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association, Immaculate Heart of Mary, or the American Cancer Society.  Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.watsonthomas.com. Rose Mary was born July 25, 1919 in Gary, Indiana the daughter of John and Anastasia (Queen) Kidwell.  She married Julius Nampel on December 28, 1940.  He preceded her in death on October 15, 1975.  Rose Mary is survived by a daughter, Nancy Hillebrecht of Henderson; a brother, Paul Kidwell of Grass Valley, CA; and a sister, Ann Fuller of wenatchee, WA.  She is also survived by two granddaughters, Ann Marie Hillebrecht of Henderson and Kristi (Drew) Jones of Columbus, OH; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Kidwell of Madera, CA.  Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and two sisters. Rose Mary was raised and educated in Freeport, where she graduated from Aquin Catholic High School.  After high school she worked at Kraft Foods and then Bon Ton Bakery, both in Freeport, as a cake decorator and operations manager for 20 years.  She also worked at the YWCA in Freeport as the head of catering for 5 years.  After moving to Galesburg Rose Mary worked for School District #205 as a lunch lady for 13 years.  While living in Freeport Rose Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  While living in Galesburg, she became a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
