Royce Darrah

Royce Darrah, 83, of Galesburg, died on Friday, January 30, 2008 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital surrounded by his family he loved.   Royce was born on October 27, 1925 in Blandensville, the son of Fred and Jessie Roll Darrah.  He was married to Margaret Rennie, Jessie Morris, and Bette Melvin. All have preceded him in death.  Royce is survived by a daughter Valerie (Matthew) Maguire of Galesburg, grandson, Dustin Maguire, and a sister Betty Wisner.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessieanne in 1998, one brother, Leslie, and three sisters, Louise, Jane, and Donna.   Royce served in World War II as an Army medic.  Royce was a self-employed beautician for 40 years.  He owned his own shop, Sirprise.  Royce belonged to the Elks Lodge #894 and the American Legion.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.   Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  Cremation will be accorded after the services.  Burial will be in Chillicothe Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or the Elks Crippled Children Fund.
