Ruby Marie Curtis, 96, of Galesburg, died at 2:29 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. Ruby was born February 27, 1925 at home in Cedar Twp, IL the daughter of Earl Reed and Marie Woods.  She married Walter Ferguson.  She later married Woodrow Allen and then married Boyd Curtis on December 23, 1965 in Galesburg.  Ruby is survived by two sons, Everett (Susie) Ferguson of Davenport, IA and Charles W. Allen of Galesburg; one daughter, Linda Ferguson of Hamilton; son-in-law, Bruce McGriff of Markesan, WI; ten grandchildren, Jeff, David, and Jon Ferguson, Mark, Ginny, Matt, and Aaron Dawdy, Monica and Jared McGriff, and Christina Lee; 23 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; two stepsons, Tom and Mike Curtis; and many loving nieces and nephews. As a young mother, Ruby worked at Kresge’s lunch counter baking pies and preparing meals with her mother Marie.  She was a wonderful cook and loved Sunday dinners with her family.  Her recipes were so famous with the family a cookbook was made just for her recipes by Judy and Bruce.  Red Velvet and coconut cake were most requested by the family.   She worked 30 years at Gale Products and still found time to have the most beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.  She and Boyd loved fishing at their cabin at Rivers End resort in Wisconsin, having fish fry’s and good times with family and friends.  Mom and Body so loved their dogs, Teddy and Myron. Ruby was preceded by one special daughter, Judy McGriff and sister to all of us on April 7, 2021; her special son, Stephen Ferguson and our brother at such a young age of 17 on August 2, 1970.  May they rest in peace with Mom, two brothers, Delbert Evens and Lester Woods; sisters, Doris Pecsi, Reva Ryner, and Genevieve Woods. A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at a later date.  A very special thank you to Todd Carlson for being such a devoted family friend and the Hospice Ladies for all the care and love they showed for Mom.  Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.  Celebration of Life for Ruby and Judy will be at Monmouth Country Club, Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 1 p.m.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
