Ruth Mildred Thompson, 89, of Galesburg, died at 11:09 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Seminary Manor. Ruth was born on December 29, 1920 in Dexter, Mo the daughter of William Franklin and Lillie Belle Russell Brooks. Her mother died soon after her birth and Ruth was raised by her Aunt Mary and Poppy Appell of Elmwood. Ruth married Ted Thompson on August 27, 1940 in Creve Coeur. Ted died in battle in WWII in February 1945. She then married James LeMasters in 1946. She later married Troy Price in 1966. Ruth is survived by three sons and a daughter, James (and Charlene) Thompson of Galesburg, Ronald (and Rose) Thompson of Chicago, James LeMasters of MN, and Mary Ruth LeMasters (and Sonny) Rutledge of Galesburg. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dawn and Francis, Laura and Kevin, Jim, Jennifer, Jessica, and Ron; and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson Troy C. Rutledge and four brothers. Ruth worked in various restaurants in Galesburg including Barneys Lunch and Golden Cream Dairy. She worked with her husband Troy Price in their shoe repair shop. Ruth was one of the first breakfast cooks at McDonalds. Ruth retired in 1982. Ruth’s funeral will be at 12 p.m. on Monday February 8, 2010 at Watson Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Private family entombment will follow at Williamsfield Mausoleum, Williamsfield. Memorials made to Susan G. Komen Foundation.
