Sam W. Sottos

Sam William Sottos, 50, of Byron, died at 12:38 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 in Rockford. Sam was born February 4, 1971 in Galesburg, Illinois.  Sam married Andrea Peterson on May 20, 1995.  Their marriage brought two daughters, Madison Sottos of Crown Point, IN and Sadie Sottos of Colfax, IL.  They later divorced.  Along with his two daughters, Sam is survived by his mother Rebecca Sottos of Galesburg; an aunt, Debbie (Arland) Golliher of Galesburg; and two cousins, Christina Hendricks of Galesburg and Tammy (Darin) Johnson of Galesburg.  Sam was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sam and Renne Sottos. Sam went to work at Maytag in 1989 until 2001 when he moved to Bloomington and worked for Mitsubishi until the plant closed in 2016.  He has worked as an electrician/millwright for Fiat-Chrysler in Belvidere since 2016.  Sam loved spending time with his daughters and in younger years they enjoyed riding jet skis.  He loved to cook and go camping as well as travelling.  Sam enjoyed technology from photography to computers.  He was a handyman.  Sam loved his animals especially his cats. Cremation will be accorded.  Private family services will be held.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
