Sheila Redington, age 44, of 1453 W. Losey St. Galesburg, Illinois, died at 7:12 a.m. on Sunday April 23, 2006 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. She was born on September 30, 1961 in Galesburg, the daughter of Hugh and Mary Urich Barnes. She married Tim Redington on May 24, 1980 in Galesburg. Surviving are- her husband Tim of Galesburg; 2 sons: Philip and Chandler both at home; 2 daughters- Shannon and Shavonne both at home. Her father and step mother Hugh and Betty Barnes of Galesburg; 2 brothers: Bill Barnes of Galesburg, and Rick Barnes of Rockford; 3 sisters: Carol McDorman of Largo, Florida, Debbie (Robin) Stansell of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and Sandy Reed of Rockford. She is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary in 2001. Sheila graduated from Galesburg High School in 1979 and was a certified teachers aid. She was a pre-school teacher at Costa Catholic School and was the GHS cheerleading coach. Sheila was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and its Ladies of Mary. She was a past girl scout leader, past soccer coach at the YMCA, and past athletic director for Costa grade school. She was also her neighborhood watch block captain and room mother for Costa first grade. Sheila ran the Carl Sandburg cheerleading camp in the summer with her daughter Shannon. She was also the Vice President of C.C.A. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday April 27, 2006 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be from 2- 8 p.m. with the family present from 5:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Sheila Redington medical expenses fund or to the Sheila Redington Costa Pre-School scholarship fund. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.watsonfh.net.
