Shirley Mae Malm died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Rosewood Nursing Home. She was born April 10, 1928 in Galesburg to Gladys Marie and Herbert Emil Ryberg. She married Walter Malm in 1959. Surviving are her son, David of St. Charles and loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Ryberg, as well as her daughter-in-law, Mary Malm. She graduated from Galesburg High School and Cottage School of Nursing as RN. She remained good friends with several from her nursing classes and they were very dear to her to the end. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Doores and later for Cottage hospital in the nursery for many years. She was a wonderful wife, mother and aunt. She was a seamstress and wonderful cookie baker making every kind of Christmas cookie and wrapping each one in cling wrap and giving large plates of them away. She photographed and took movies of all the family children. She cared for others more than herself, always nearby in times of need. She was of Baptist faith. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been requested. A family graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens for both her and her husband, Walter, on Monday, November 23, 2015 with Pastor Dan Siems officiating.
