Stella M. Rose, 84, formerly of Galesburg passed away Oct. 25th, 2009 at home. She was born Sept. 16, 1925 in Galesburg to Nathaniel and Mary Crouch. Stella married Edwin “Cub” Harding in 1941 and then married John H. Rose in 1951. Stella was a homemaker and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church while living in Galesburg, and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Corning. She loved to cook, decorate cakes, make candy and was an avid reader. Surviving are three daughters; Bonnie (Mike) Kumer of E. Peoria, Margie (Pete) Calderone of Victoria and Paula (Bill) Beck of Corning, CA, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, John Rose, three brothers John, Clarence and Joshua Crouch and two sisters; Mary “Mimi” (Bill) Lutz and Gertrude “Trudy” (Dale) Swanson along with her only son, Clarence “Bo” Harding. Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside service will be at 3pm Thurs. June 10th at the Knoxville cemetery, Street #4, with Deacon Jim Haneghan officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Costa Catholic Academy.
