Susan Lynn Melton

Susan Lynn Melton, 59, of Galesburg, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Susan was born May 13, 1959 in Galesburg, the daughter of William Lee and Shirley Mae (Sholl) Ebbing. She married Dale A. Melton on May 1, 1999 in Galesburg. Susan is survived by her husband, Dale of Galesburg; one daughter, Michelle (Eric) Jones of New Windsor; one brother, William (Tracey) Ebbing of Galesburg; and one granddaughter, Megan Jones. Susan is also survived by one step son, Kevin Melton of Oneida; two step daughters, Shelly Ann (Danny) Ward of Rushville and Robin Melton of Galesburg; eight step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. Susan was preceded in death by her parents. Susan worked in Galesburg as a waitress for many years as well as working at Admiral. She enjoyed fishing, knitting, and shopping. She also enjoyed baking, especially pies. Susan was also a past member of the Moose Lodge in Galesburg. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Thomas Legacy Center at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, with a prayer service at 1 p.m. Burial of cremated remains will follow at the Rio Baptist Cemetery, Rio, IL.
