Susan M. Carithers

Susan Michaelee Carithers, 75, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Galesburg. Sue was born August 4, 1943 in Seattle, WA, the daughter of Marvin and Mary (Hurst) Seastedt. Sue is survived by one daughter, Debbie Gamble of Galesburg; one son, Tommy (Laura) Carithers, Jr., of Pecatonica; one brother, Mike (Julia) Seastedt of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Rikki, Tyler and Leticia Gamble; and two great grandchildren, Mya and Roman Gamble. Sue was preceded in death by her parents. Sue graduated from GHS and attended Carl Sandburg College. Sue sold real estate for 8 years for Seastedt Realty. She then worked as a CNA in Galesburg for 30 years. She worked several years in different nursing homes and spent her last years working in home care. She was a former member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge and the Galesburg Realtors Association. Sue loved to play bingo. Sue loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She truly loved helping people. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Jordan Knight will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will follow in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
