Suzanne "Susie" C. Howard

Suzanne “Susie” C. Howard (87), of Galesburg, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 1, 2024.

Susie was born April 7, 1936, in Galesburg, the daughter of Jake and Elizabeth Glasnovich. She attended St. Joseph Academy and Corpus Christi High School. She married Daniel Howard on June 25, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galesburg.

Susie is survived by her six children: Lori (Joe) Deets, Linda (Steve) Boone, Mike Howard, Lisa Howard, Kathy (Van) Shipley, and Rick Howard; six grandchildren: Jeremy (Camille) Howard, Jake Shipley, Danika (Nathan) Elmore, Andy Boone, Sami (Justin) Havelock, and Sumer Rose; four great-granddaughter’s: Elizabeth, Mackenzie, and Isabelle Howard, and Evelette Mercado; sister, Theresa Bivens; brothers, Phil (Pat) and John (Jean Ann) Glasnovich; and sisters-in-law: Shirley, Pat, Linda, Sara, and Paula Glasnovich.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her daughter-in-law, Kelly Howard. She is also preceded in death by her brothers: Joe, Nick, Mike, Bill, Steve, and David Glasnovich; sister, Ceceilia Glasnovich; sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary and Bill McMahon, Anna and David Skrzelowski, and Tedie and John Maxwell; brother-in-law, Bill Bivens; and sister-in-law, Linda Glasnovich.

Susie was a devout Catholic who dedicated her life to her family and faith. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She touched so many lives and will be dearly missed.

Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Memorial mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Father William T. Miller will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
