Tommy Lee Tucker, 69, of Galesburg, died on Monday, December 11, 2017, 12:02 pm, at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg. Tommy was born on November 6, 1948, in Galesburg. He was the son of Floyd Donovan and Florence Lucille (Buck) Tucker. Tommy is survived by his son, Larry (Alissa) Tucker of Abingdon; a brother, Donovan Tucker of Galesburg; two sisters, Delores Weidemier of West Burlington, Iowa, and Lawanda Delawder of Marilyn Heights, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Mary Ella Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents. Tommy started working for McDonell-Douglass in 1967, and then worked as a meat cutter in the St. Louis area for 30 years. After that he went to Schnucks and worked for 21 years, retiring in 1997.Tommy was a member of the Meat Cutters Local #88 in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended the Abingdon Christian Church. He was also proud of his genealogy, which he could trace to Johnny Appleseed, the Hatfield & McCoy’s, and the Bush family. Tommy loved to fish, camp, and garden. He enjoyed visiting the Knox County Humane Society. Most of all, Tommy loved to spend time with his family. Per Tommy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2017 from 1-5 pm at the Abingdon Banking Center, 805 N Monroe Street, Abingdon, Illinois, 61410. A private burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials in Tommy’s honor may be given to the Knox County Humane Society.
