Troy L. Nelson

Troy L. Nelson, 53, of Galesburg, died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Troy was born February 27, 1968 in Galesburg, the son of Jack L. and Linda S. (Commean) Nelson.  Troy married Pam Brittingham in 1997 in Galesburg.  They later divorced.  Troy is survived by his daughter, Trinna (Eric Swank) Nelson of Galesburg; and his two beloved grandchildren, Aris Tinkham and Jaxon Tinkham.  Troy is also survived by two brothers, Todd (Bobbi) Nelson of Phoenix, AZ and Trent (Shawn) Nelson of Galesburg; one sister, Tabbi (Kevin) Stewart of Monmouth, IL; and several nieces and nephews.  Troy was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Helen and Leonard Commean of Galesburg. Troy had a passion for music and owned and operated Metroburg Promotions DJ Services in Galesburg.  Troy loved to spend time with his daughter and grandchildren.  He faithfully supported his daughter in her activities when she was growing up.  He loved listening to music and throwing darts.  Troy was a proud Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Troy was extremely social and loved being surrounded by his family and friends. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m.  Burial will be at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, 1849 N.
