Veronica Zich

Veronica M. Zich was born on January 13, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri.  She and her husband, Dr. Walter J. Zich, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on May 29th of this year.  Veronica is survived by her husband and 7 children: Michael (Lynn) Zich of Dunn, NC, Jane Zich (John Steinhelber) of Fairfax, CA, Marianne (Kevin) McCarthy of Granger, IN, Margaret (Mark) Precup of Chandler, AZ, Walter Zich Jr. (Nathenia Burgard) of Peoria, John Zich (Anne Ryan) of Chicago, and Peter (Carol) Zich of Elmhurst, IL;  she is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 4 sisters, Mary Budde, Virginia Sicking, Rosemary Pauk, and Ruthie Rosenhauer, all of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and August Heideman, a sister, Alice Budde, and daughter-in-law, Gynell Zich. Veronica, a loving and devoted wife and mother, was actively involved in St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, St. Vincent de Paul Society, The Immaculata Guild, and Costa Catholic School.  She was the author of 4 published books and a member of Mystery Writer's of America, and shared her passion for writing with her students at Carl Sandburg Community College.     A funeral mass for Veronica will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 8th at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Funeral Home Galesburg.  Visit www.watsonfh.net to share condolences. The family gratefully acknowledges the care and friendship given by the staff at Heartland Care Center.
