John V. “Vince” Morrissey, 83, of Galesburg, died at 2:52 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Vince was born February 16th, 1929 in Galesburg, the son of Alice and Joseph Morrissey.  He married Joan M. “Jody” Curry on June 19th, 1954 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  She survives.  Also surviving is a brother, Joseph E. Morrissey; two sons, Michael C. (and Cris) of Fort Wayne, IN and John T. “Ted” of Sherman.  Also surviving are three grandsons, Zachary, Ethan, Spenser, and a granddaughter, Manhattan. He worked 27 years at the Register Mail Newspaper as a display advertising representative and was associated with R.C. Berry and Tony Lischwe in the real estate and insurance business.  After retirement, he worked for Cottage Home Options and later for Dental Art Laboratory as a currier.  Vince served as a signalman with the 369th Boat Battalion at the Army Post in Fort Worden, WA during the Korean Conflict. As a golf enthusiast, Vince was a member for 17 years of the “Weekenders” golf league at Bunker Links Golf Course.  He was also a member of Father J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556 where he acted as chairman of the St. Jude Golf Outing Prize Committee for many years.  Vince was also a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. A Funeral Mass for Vince will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  Rev. William T. Miller, IC will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, with military honors performed by the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 Honor Guard.  No visitation is planned.  Memorials may be made to the Milk Fund.
