Walter Kostelecky

Walter Kostelecky, 77, of 872 E. Fourth St. Galesburg, died at 10:18 p.m. on Friday June 23, 2006 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.   Walter was born on July 10, 1928 in Dickinson, ND the son of Wencel and Minnie Mahokie Kostelecky.  He married Jean M.  Frank on June 7, 1950 in Sheffield, ND.  She survives.   Also surviving are 3 sons:  Kerwin (JoAnne) of Laurel, MT; Terry of Del Valle, TX; and Mark (Doris) of Galveston, TX.  1 Daughter:  Kim (Andy) Rosencrans of St. Charles, IL.  3 sisters:  Betty Cottom of Galesburg, IL;  Stazie Peterson of Cocoa Beach, FL; and Alice Thompson of Waurika, OK.  7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son Rodney in 1980, and 1 brother and 2 sisters.   Walter worked as a forklift operator for Gale Products for 30 years, and then was a bus driver for the city of Galesburg for 8 years.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the western Illinois antique auto club.  Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday June 28 at Corpus Christi Church with the Reverend William Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.  Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or to Corpus Christi Church.
