Wilbur J. Walck, 83, of Galesburg passed away at 8:36 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at home. Wilbur was born September 4, 1929 in East Galesburg, the son of William and Verona Elias Walck. He married Bernice M. Meyer on January 30, 1951. She survives. Also surviving him is one son, James (Mary) D. Walck Sr. of Galesburg; one daughter, Valerie (Jon) J. Symmonds of Monica, IL; three grandchildren, James (Theresa) Walck of Moline, Veronica (Kevin) Bresnahan of Boone, IA, and Nicole Symmonds of Monica, IL; three great-grandchildren, Mary and Theo Bresnahan of Boone, IA and Lucy Walck of Moline. Also surviving him are two nephews, Ed (Kathy) and Robert (Holly) Jr. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, John Walck and Robert Walck, Sr. He graduated from Knoxville High School and the University of Illinois. He was a member of Corpus Christi Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. He served in the Army from 1951-1953 in Germany. He worked at the Lucky Boy Bakery and retired from Gates Rubber Company in 1989. He loved fishing, playing golf, playing bridge and gardening. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. The Reverend William T. Miller, IC will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Hospice Compassus, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.watsonthomas.com
