W.L. “Ted” Fineran, 94, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Galesburg, died on Monday, September 15, 2008 at Clarissa Cook Hospice, Bettendorf, IA. Ted was born on March 25, 1914 in Galesburg, the son of James M. and Winnefred Shea Fineran. He married Catherine Patricia Sullivan on November 9, 1940 in Galesburg at St. Patrick’s Church. She preceded him in death on October 7, 1993. Surviving Ted are a son, Bill (Jaynee) of Moline; and a daughter, Mary Kay (Herb) Luthin of Clarion, PA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Corey and Patrick Fineran of Moline and Maggie Luthin of Clarion, PA; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 3 sisters. Ted graduated from Corpus Christi High School and Brown’s Business College. Ted worked at Hawkinson Manufacturing for over 40 years, retiring in 1979 as President of the company. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, a 3rd degree member of Father J.O. Hunt Knights of Columbus Council 556, and the carpenters union for over 60 years. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7:30 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Costa Catholic Academy, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
